I heard yesterday that all of the cabins by the spring are rented by Stantons! I'm not sure about the availability of other cabins in Bennett Spring Park.

Stanton Family Reunion
June 15, 16, & 17, 2012 (Father’s Day Weekend)
Bennett Spring State Park

Your presence is requested at this year’s Stanton Family Reunion.

Sat. will be the main day of activities featuring the traditional potluck (changed to lunch time this year), followed by an auction to benefit the cemetery fund. Other ideas for fun in the sun (it’s usually hot and humid) are:

·       Fishing for trout, canoeing and/or swimming in the park pool

·       Visiting the old home place, remembering loved ones at the cemetery

·       Games for young and old

·       Singing old songs led by those who sang specials during Sun. evening church

·       Updating genealogical charts, sharing old photos

·       Shopping the antique stores in Lebanon

·       Hiking the trails at Bennett Spring, sitting on the bridge watching people go by and following the park workers who are feeding trout in the hatchery

Please let us know what activities you would like to see included. My e-mail is daderhol@yahoo.com  Some of us are on Facebook under the Stanton Family.  Comments may also be left at the fledging Stanton’s, past and present BlogSpot. My physical address is Jeannine Aderhold, 2322 E. Thompson Pl., Springfield, MO 65804, 417-234-0880.

Cabin Info:  David Roper (Aunt Inez’s husband) is organizing reservations and needs to know as soon as possible who wants a cabin at Bennett Springs. If interested, we need to let David know and then send him one night’s fee for a deposit. The second night’s payment will be due when checking in on June 15th. The cabins require 2-night reservations at $139/night. As Teresa says – a bit pricy but you get 2 bedrooms/full-size fold out couch and a full kitchen with pots, plates, coffee pot, etc. One bedroom has a full-size bed and the other has two twins. To find out more information, you can contact David Roper by phone at (417) 881-4405.

Camping is another option. Besides Bennett Spring’s campground there are privately-owned campgrounds in the area. Last year we saw what looked like a family reunion as they had several adjoining campground spots and a common eating area.
